Hi. My name is Dustin and I now live in the Los Angeles area. After spending the greater part of my twenties moving from state to state trying to find where I felt at home, I realized that home is not a location. Home is where you park it. Finding my own personal space in LA is next to impossible, but with my surfboard on the roof and my bike on the back, I have the ability to get away whenever I want.
In the late spring of 2018, I bought at 73′ Ford E-100 Clubwagon from a dude that owns a coffee shop in Portland, Oregon. The van was in great condition with just over 100k miles on it, barn kept, and exactly what I was looking for. I spend the next 5 months turning an old empty hippie wagon into one of the coolest and most practical conversion vans that I have ever seen (excluding Instagram photoshoots).
When I started out, all I knew was that this was the opportunity to build that dream clubhouse that everyone wanted when they were 8, so that’s what I did. Oh you know, hardwood floors, walnut countertops, solar panels, running water/Mountain Dew Baja Blast (working on it), cedar paneling, and dope lights. With a little help from friends and the internet, my dream of living rent-free became a possibility, and then my reality.
After I finished the build, it came to me: I want to help other people do this. Whether it’s adding a PV system to an existing build, or doing a full-out renovation to create someone else’s dream, I’m down.
The Van Plan has come to life.
